Sarah James Makeup — Booking Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

These Booking Terms & Conditions apply to services booked with Sarah James Makeup. Please read them before confirming your booking. By paying the booking fee, you agree to these terms.

1. Booking your date

An enquiry does not reserve a date.

Your booking is confirmed once Sarah has confirmed availability and the required 10% booking fee has been received.

Until the booking fee has been received, the requested date may remain available to other clients.

2. Booking fee

A 10% booking fee is required to secure your booking.

Once any applicable statutory cancellation rights have passed, the booking fee is non-refundable where the client chooses to cancel, as the date has been reserved and Sarah may have declined other work for that time.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

3. Remaining balance

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days before the wedding or event date.

Bookings made within 14 days of the service date may require payment in full when the booking is confirmed.

4. Bridal trials

Where a bridal trial is included within a package, Sarah will arrange the trial directly with the bride.

The trial is an opportunity to discuss your preferences, explore your chosen look and make adjustments ahead of the wedding day.

If you need to rearrange your trial, please give Sarah as much notice as possible.

5. Changes to the bridal party

Please let Sarah know as soon as possible if the number of people requiring makeup changes.

Adding additional people is subject to availability and sufficient time being available on the wedding morning.

A reduction in the number of people after the booking has been confirmed may affect the original package price or amount payable, particularly where the date and time have already been reserved for the original booking.

6. Cancellation by the client

If you decide to cancel your booking, please contact Sarah as soon as possible.

Where cancellation takes place after any applicable statutory cancellation period, the 10% booking fee will normally be retained.

Where additional payments have already been made, any amount retained will be limited to what is reasonable in light of Sarah's actual losses arising from the cancellation.

7. Rescheduling

Sarah is happy to accommodate a change of wedding or event date where at least 14 days' notice is provided.

Any change of date is subject to Sarah being available on the new date.

Where Sarah is available, payments already made can be transferred to the rearranged booking.

If Sarah is unavailable for the new date, the booking will be treated as a cancellation and the cancellation terms above will apply.

8. Cancellation by Sarah

In the unlikely event that Sarah is unable to provide the agreed service due to illness, emergency or circumstances outside her reasonable control, she will contact you as soon as possible.

Where Sarah has to cancel and is unable to provide the booked service, payments relating to services that have not been provided will be refunded.

If appropriate and possible, Sarah may also help identify an alternative makeup artist, although this cannot be guaranteed.

9. Travel

Sarah works throughout Chester, Cheshire and North Wales and is happy to travel further for weddings and other bookings.

Any additional travel, parking, accommodation or other agreed expenses will be discussed with you before the booking is confirmed.

There will be no unexpected travel charges added after booking without discussing them with you first.

10. Timings and delays

Wedding-morning timings will normally be agreed in advance.

Clients and members of the bridal party should be available at their agreed makeup time to help the morning run smoothly.

Where significant delays caused by the client or bridal party mean Sarah cannot complete all booked services without affecting other commitments or the agreed finish time, Sarah cannot guarantee that every service can still be completed.

11. Allergies, sensitivities and medical information

Clients should inform Sarah before their appointment of any known allergies, skin sensitivities, infections or other conditions that may affect the safe application of makeup.

Sarah may decline to apply a product or provide a service where she reasonably believes doing so could present a health or hygiene risk.

12. Photography

Sarah may occasionally ask permission to photograph finished makeup for her portfolio, website or social media.

Photographs will only be used for promotional purposes where appropriate permission has been given.

13. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under UK consumer law.

Services will be provided with reasonable care and skill as required by law.
